An Instructor Rating allows you to teach someone how to fly

 

Earning an Instructor Rating (aeroplane) is one of the gateways to a career in aviation. After the program, the candidate earns a Class IV Instructor Rating. As experience builds, the Rating progresses to a Class III, Class II, and eventually Class I. The Class IV Instructor Rating certifies the holder of a Commercial Pilot Licence or ATPL can conduct flight training under the supervision of a Class I or Class II Flight Instructor working within a Flight Training Unit (FTU). You will undergo rigorous training led by one of the most experienced Class 1 Instructors in Canada.

  • Enjoys flying in all its aspects both practical and theoretical.

Program Elements

Transport Canada Minimum Requirements:

  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)

  • Valid Class 1 Medical

  • Complete Aviation Language Proficiency Test

  • 25 hours of Instructor Rating Ground School + 15 hours of a briefing with the instructor

  • 70% on the AIRAF written examination

  • 30 hours of dual flight instruction with the holder of a Class 1 Instructor Rating

  • Complete a flight test to the standard described in the Flight Test Guide – Flight Instructor Rating

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
